Andreas (Andy) Gmeiner was born and raised in Munich Germany and at a very early age developed a love for cooking.  He entered Chef School in Munich in 1983, earning a Bachelor's Degree in 1986.  From Chef School, Andy attended pastry school earning his Bachelor's Degree in 1988.

 

In 1989, Andy needed to fulfill his German Army requirement where he worked as Head Chef, preparing meals for a base of 800 in Munich.  After the Army, Andy entered Hotel & Management School where he received his Master's Degree in 1993.  Andy is also a Certified Master Chef in the United States. There are currently only 67 CMC's in the U.S.

 

In 1994 his friend Jörg Kühne hired Andy to be his Chef and Restaurant Manager at his new restaurant in the United States. Andy packed his bags and moved from Munich to Moore, Oklahoma.  A few years later when everything was going well at Royal Bavaria, Andy decided to move on to pursue other restaurant interests.  For several years, Andy worked at a variety of area restaurants, serving as Executive Chef until returning to Royal Bavaria in 2006.

 

In 2007 Jörg expressed interest in retiring and offered to sell Royal Bavaria to Andy.  A deal was quickly reached and Andy took over as the new owner on January 1, 2008.

 

Since 2008 Andy has continued to oversee all aspects of the kitchen as well as serving as Head Brewmaster.  Many improvements have been made to the property including a complete overhaul of the famous Beergarten and an expansion in the brewery.  

 

Andy continues to operate Royal Bavaria the same way the original founder believed - serve fresh, high quality Bavarian dishes, prepared from scratch, handcrafted beer brewed to German Purity law and provide true Bavarian hospitality.
